Should I Give Up on Love?

Updated: May 7

Awww, love!

Some of us have been dreaming of finding our perfect partner for longer than we can remember. Some have woken up to this desire in recent years. Regardless of how long this “pursuit” has been, we can all agree on one thing: we go about this quest for love kissing a few frogs. So, how can we stay positive when we see so many failed attempts? How can we stay the course and not give up on Love, when things seem like they are not going anywhere?

In this blog, let’s delve into the power of love to conquer our deepest fears, doubts and uncertainties, bringing faith that, no matter how things may be looking out, there is still a chance to find love. True, meaningful, Love.

Should You Give Up on Love?

I was recently listening to the song "That's the Way It Is," by Celine Dion, and the words in her lyrics stroke a chord. In it, she sings: “When you want it the most there's no easy way out. When you're ready to go and your heart's left in doubt. Don't give up on your faith, Love comes to those who believe it. And that's the way it is.”

At the core of every human experience lies the profound longing for love. Call it what  you may, but even if you are upset at love, some part deep within you still craves it. Even if you were to give up on love, it wouldn’t be long before you decide to get back on that horse. Am I right?

I found these lyrics to be so true, because it paints a portrait of love's unwavering resilience. It is this unyielding strength that empowers you to persevere. To hold on to that desire in your heart when all else seems lost. And while it is true that things aren’t always easy, one thing is for sure, as long as you don’t give up, you can't help but to have what you set yourself to achieve.

The Next Step: Embracing Your Vulnerability (the safe way)

Great! You’ve decided to continue on with your journey towards romantic love, but… How can you achieve it after so many failed attempts? How to go against those thoughts that tell you to give up on love? That is a very genuine question. One that I have asked myself quite a few times over the years.

What I can share with you is that to love, you need to embrace vulnerability. It means being open to the possibility of getting hurt. However, there is a way in which you no longer need to remain a victim of failed relationships, past or present.

You see, Love itself isn’t the one hurting you. The lack of love is. And this lack of love in relationships can go from the one you have with yourself, to the one you have with your partner, parents, or with other people. When you recognize that you can transform these experiences, which lacked love, into life lessons, you’ll be well on your way to finding true, everlasting romance.

Navigating Life's Challenges

Of course, the process of transmuting these unpleasant experiences into Love lessons isn’t always comfortable. But they are absolutely worth the effort.

Twin Flame book

It’s no mystery that Life is a journey filled with unexpected twists and turns, which tests the limits of your resolve and resilience. However, when you remain steadfast in your belief in love's ability to overcome everything and anything, you can easily move from this thought that tells you to give up on love, towards one that ignites your pursuit of true romance. It is precisely in your vulnerability that you can find the strength and the means necessary to re-build that trust that Love’s got your back.

The Triumph of Love

On that note, I’d like to share a poem my spiritual Teachers Jeff & Shaleia wrote in their book “Twin Flames: Finding Your Ultimate Lover”:

“Love Was Always There

I knew it first in my heart the moment I recognized the desire,

The feeling of Love.

I felt it first in my center and I knew.

All I knew is I knew.

The feeling of Love.

Then somewhere along the way I forgot,

I brushed it off, let it slip away.

The Truth of Love.

And my life hurt. Life hurt me, it hurt to live.

But I kept living.

I kept living to find my Love.

***

I had forgotten what it was like to Love,

But Love whispered to me

Love’s Eternal Call.

Love was always inviting me forward where

Perfect Love awaited.

I searched far and wide, under every rock and shade of tree,

and still it felt far away,

Yet Love’s call remained in me.

Love always seemed so close, yet it never moved,

always waiting and present in its abiding whisper.

Love was always there.

***

When I finally began to venture within,

I found things I didn’t like, but I held strong faith.

Love guided me through.

I touched things I had thrown away,

and I finally put them in their right place.

Love strengthened me along the way.

And when I arrived back home to Love,

I knew it was me who had left,

But one thing never changed:

The Truth that Love always remains,

Now I know to never leave, never stray again,

Because with Love I go everywhere and I know

Love is found within.”
